CSA (Ceto Stearyl Alcohol), also known as Cetearyl Alcohol, is a fatty alcohol used as a thickener, emollient, stabilizer, and co-emulsifier in cosmetic and personal care formulations. It improves product body, texture, and stability while providing a smooth, creamy skin feel. Unlike drying alcohols, CSA is non-irritating and helps soften and condition both skin and hair. It is widely used in creams, lotions, conditioners, hair masks, and emulsions to enhance viscosity and support stable oil-in-water systems. Due to its excellent compatibility and ease of processing, CSA is a standard ingredient in both rinse-off and leave-on products.
