Rhassoul Clay is mineralogically distinct from all other clays in the CSW Natural Clays range. Most cosmetic clays are Kaolin-based (Kaolin, French Green, French Pink, Brazilian clays) or smectite-based with high water swelling (Bentonite). Rhassoul is a stevensite-saponite smectite clay from a specific Moroccan geological deposit with a mineral profile not found elsewhere: its combination of silicon, magnesium, potassium, sodium, calcium, and lithium at natural ratios is unique to the Moroccan Atlas Mountain clay deposits. It is the only cosmetic clay with both natural soap-like lathering properties and conditioning properties simultaneously, making it suitable as both a cleanser and a conditioner in hair care — a functional combination that no other clay in the range provides.

How to Use

For Face Masks: Mix 1 to 2 teaspoons with enough water, rose water, or orange blossom water to form a smooth paste. Apply to the face avoiding the eye area. Leave for 10 to 15 minutes. Rinse with warm water. Follow with a moisturiser. Suitable for all skin types. For dry skin, activate with honey or a few drops of facial oil mixed into the water.

For Hair Masks and Scalp Treatment: Mix 2 to 4 tablespoons with enough water to form a pourable paste. Apply to the scalp and hair from root to tip. Leave for 5 to 20 minutes depending on hair type and condition. Rinse thoroughly with warm water. Rhassoul can be used as a shampoo substitute (no-poo method) as well as a conditioning treatment, applied before or after washing. Its natural saponite content provides mild cleansing action without surfactants.

For Soap: Pre-disperse at 1 to 3% of total oil weight in a small amount of distilled water or liquid oil. Add to cold process soap batter at light trace. Produces warm reddish-brown to brown tones depending on the soap base. The saponite content in Rhassoul also contributes a mild soap-like function in the finished bar.

For Body Wraps: Activate with warm water or floral water at 30 to 60% of the dry blend. Apply generously to the body. Leave for 15 to 20 minutes. Rinse with warm water. The mineral-rich composition makes Rhassoul a premium body wrap ingredient in spa-positioned formulations.
