Benefits
• Batch microbial data confirmed: Total Microbial Count less than 10 cfu/ml and Total Yeast/Mould less than 10 cfu/ml. Equivalent to the Rosemary Hydrosol VO240318 from the same production run — excellent manufacturing hygiene for this batch.
• Batch pH 4.00 confirmed: The acidic pH is compatible with Sodium Benzoate preservation (effective below pH 5), Niacinamide toner formulations, and exfoliant toner systems. The acidic nature also provides a skin-toning effect consistent with low-pH facial toner positioning for oily and combination skin types.
• Provides a refreshing, skin-conditioning toning experience when used as a facial toner or face mist, contributing the water-soluble plant compounds from Melaleuca alternifolia to the skin surface through the aqueous water phase.
• Water-soluble and fully compatible with aqueous cosmetic systems, functioning as a partial or full water phase replacement in toners, face mists, serums, and scalp care products at usage levels from 5 to 100% of the water phase.
• The clean, medicinal tea tree aroma at hydrosol concentration is considerably more subtle than the essential oil, making it appropriate for face toner and daily-use formulations where a mild, fresh character is preferred over an intense EO fragrance.
• Particularly suitable for oily, combination, and congested skin toner formulations where the clean character of tea tree hydrosol provides a refreshing skin feel that complements Niacinamide, salicylic acid, and other oily skin actives in the water phase.
How to Use
As Facial Toner for Oily and Combination Skin: Use at 80 to 100% of the toner formula. Add actives such as Niacinamide (2 to 5%), Panthenol (1 to 3%), or a low-concentration BHA at the target pH. Add a broad-spectrum preservative at 0.5 to 1%. Package in spray or pump bottle. The batch pH of 4.00 is compatible with Sodium Benzoate preservation at below 5.0.
As Scalp Toner: Use at 50 to 100% of the scalp toner water phase. Add Niacinamide or Panthenol. Add a broad-spectrum preservative. Apply to the scalp after shampooing for a refreshing, clean scalp experience.
In Serum Water Phase: Replace 10 to 50% of the distilled water in serum formulations for oily and combination skin. The acidic pH is compatible with most serum-grade actives targeting oily and congested skin types.
As Hair Mist: Use at 50 to 95% of the water phase in scalp hair mist formulations. Add Panthenol and a preservative before packaging.
Preservation — Mandatory: Tea Tree Hydrosol is water-based and requires a broad-spectrum preservative in all finished products. Given the batch pH of 4.00, Sodium Benzoate is a viable and effective option. Euxyl PE 9010 (Phenoxyethanol and Ethylhexylglycerin) at 0.5 to 1% is also compatible.

Pairs Well With
Niacinamide dissolved in Tea Tree Hydrosol at 2 to 5% creates one of the most commercially relevant oily skin toner formulations in the Indian DIY and indie brand market. The combination targets pore minimisation, sebum regulation, and skin conditioning in a single water-phase toner base with a clean, medicinal botanical identity.
Salicylic Acid (BHA) at 0.5 to 2% in Tea Tree Hydrosol as the water phase creates an exfoliant toner for oily and congested skin. The acidic pH of the hydrosol (4.00) is compatible with salicylic acid's working pH range (3.0 to 4.0). This is a technically sophisticated combination — formulators should verify pH after adding the BHA and adjust to target before adding preservative.
Aloe Vera Powder dissolved in Tea Tree Hydrosol creates a soothing, hydrating toner for oily skin that balances the clean astringent character of tea tree with the calming, film-forming function of aloe vera. Suitable for sensitive-yet-oily skin toner formulations.
Rosemary Hydrosol blended with Tea Tree Hydrosol at equal proportions creates a dual-botanical herbal water phase with both the clean medicinal character of tea tree and the sharp herbal freshness of rosemary. Particularly relevant for scalp toner formulations targeting oily scalp and product build-up.
Euxyl PE 9010 at 0.5 to 1% is a reliable broad-spectrum
preservative option for Tea Tree Hydrosol, alongside Sodium Benzoate which is
viable given the batch-confirmed pH of 4.00.
